by Emanuele Crialese (see interview) will open the 7th L'industrie du rêve Festival this evening, which takes place until December 10 in Paris and Seine-Saint-Denis.

After “Décor” in 2004 and “Lumière” in 2005, the theme of this year’s event is production with the title "Boulevard des producteurs", which will be animated by a series of conferences.

On Thursday afternoon, there will be a talk entitled "La production fait sa révolution" in the presence of Nicolas Seydoux, President of Gaumont.

Financing issues will be discussed by Daniel Goudineau (France 3 Cinéma) and representatives from the DVD (Wildside) and VoD (Glowria) sectors, followed by a debate on the new geography of productions. Speakers on the latter include Jean-François Lepetit (Flach Film), Olivier René-Veillon (Ile de France Film Commission) and Britain’s Nick Smith (Pinewood/Shepperton Studios).

Participants at Friday’s discussion entitled "La production, tout une histoire!" include producer Alain Rocca (Lazennec) and directors such as Jean-Paul Rappeneau, Eric Rochant and Teresa Villaverde (whose film Trance [+see also:

This year l’Industrie du rêve will pay homage to producer Humbert Balsan, welcome Paulo Branco (Gémini) as special guest and host a retrospective on the director Catherine Breillat. Czech filmmaker Jiri Menzel will hold a masterclass at the FEMIS on Thursday and Italian screenwriter Sergio Donati will be the special invite at the Sergio Leone Cine Party.

To round off the event, there will be focuses on Studios d’Arpagon with its director Pascal Becu and filmmaker Zabou Breitman, a screening of the animated title Azur & Asmar [+see also:
