Deluxe line-up for StudioCanal

07/05/2007 - The 60th Cannes Film Festival (May 16-27) promises to be impressive for French international sales outfit StudioCanal, whose titles will open (Wong Kar Wai’s My Blueberry Nights [trailer], in competition) and close the Official Selection (Denys Arcand’s The Age of Innocence, out of competition).

Muriel Sauzay’s team also hopes to do good business at the Market with Emir Kusturica’s Promise Me This [trailer], also in the running for the Palme d’Or and which has already been sold in Europe to Germany, the Benelux, Greece, Switzerland, Portugal and Eastern Europe. StudioCanal will also present Mang Shan Blind Mountain by Chinese director Li Yang in the Un Certain Regard sidebar.

Canal+’s busy line-up is also set to drum up good business with sales to start on Amos Gitai’s Disengagement, starring Juliette Binoche (see news); Gloss by Russian director Andrei Konchalovsky; Erick Zonca’s Julia [trailer] with Tilda Swinton (see article); and Jacques Maillot’s Rivals [trailer], starring François Cluzet and Guillaume Canet (see article).

Other films expected to sell well are Paris [trailer] by Cédric Klapisch (see news – acquired to date by Italy, Portugal, Eastern Europe, Greece, Switzerland, the Benelux, Canada and Argentina), Jean-Jacques Annaud’s Her Majestic Minor (sold in Europe to Spain, the Benelux, Greece, Switzerland, Bulgaria and Romania) and Mathieu Kassovitz’s Babylon A.D. [trailer] (see news).

Other titles StudioCanal will be selling at Cannes include Marc Gibaja’s Ma vie sans Meg Ryan (see news), Jean Becker’s Conversations with My Gardener with Daniel Auteuil (out in France on June 6), Thomas Balmès’ documentary Baby(ies), Détrompez-vous [trailer] by directing duo Bruno Dega and Jeanne Le Guillou (see news), Ceux qui restent by Anne Le Ny , James Huth’s Hellphone [trailer], Alexandra Leclère’s The Price to Pay [trailer], Eric de Montalier’s My Place in the Sun [trailer] and Piotr Uklanski’s Polish western Summer Love [trailer] (see article).
