103 prints for Irina Palm and Marianne Faithfull

by

Having avoided the first impact of box office hit Spider-Man 3 (850 prints for 2.67m admissions in six days), which injected a much needed dose of dynamism in what has been a quiet April, 12 films are opening today in French cinemas. Among the six European films, five US productions and one Algerian this week’s highlight is Sam Garbarski’s Irina Palm [+see also:

A big hit both among critics and audiences at the 2007 Berlinale, the title opens on 103 screens through Pyramide. Its lead actress Marianne Faithfull has been receiving significant press coverage. The European co-production between Belgium (Entre Chien et Loup, Les Ateliers de Baere, RTBF), Germany (Pallas Film), France (Liaison Cinématographique), Luxembourg (Samsa Film) and the UK (Ipso Facto) also stars Serbian actor Miki Manojlovic, who can be seen very soon in Emir Kusturica’s Promise Me This [+see also:

Esperanza Productions), the tale of an encounter between a Parisian jazzman and a Pyrénées shepherd.
