After its screening earlier this year in the Berlinale Forum sidebar, where it picked up the Caligari Film Award, Dutch director Nanouk Leopold’s third feature, Wolfsbergen, has now been selected in the Contemporary World Cinema section of the Toronto International Film Festival (September 6-15).

Starring renowned Belgian actor Jan Decleir and Dutch actress-director Tamar van den Dop, Wolfsbergen is the story of a family going through testing times, as four generations come head to head when, following the death of his wife, the father of the family decides to commit suicide, warning his children beforehand.

film profile] (selected at the 2005 Cannes Directors’ Fortnight) was also a co-production from Belgian outfit CosmoKino, in association with Dutch outfit Circe Films.

Founded in 1989 by the director Rudolf Mestdagh, CosmoKino produced a number of documentaries, shorts and medium-length features as well as commercials before then turning to features, co-producing such films as Martin Koolhoven’s Het Zuiden and Yvan Le Moine’s Friday or Another Day. Mestdagh’s 2004 feature debut eLLektra won the outfit a number of international awards.

Sold by Films Distribution, Wolfsbergen, co-produced by Dutch television channel VPRO and financed by the Nederlands Filmfonds, Stimuleringsfonds and CoBo Fonds, also received backing from the Vlaams Audiovisueel Fonds (VAF) and the Eurimages fund.

A-Film België NV will release the title in Belgium.
