Constantin stays the course despite drop in admissions

by

For the first half of 2007, the production and distribution outfit Constantin Film AG, founded in Munich in 1977 by Bernd Eichinger, recorded sales of €124m, generated in most part by television and video productions. In theatres however, it was a poor start to the year.

While the group’s distribution activities generated €11m in the first half of 2006, this year the figure dropped to €8.6m for the same period, a fall in line with the general trend. As a result, the operating profit of the company took a blow, falling from €3.8 to €3.5m.

, who this time has made a comedy starring Benno Fürmann on the porno film industry in 1970s Munich. German audiences will have the opportunity to see it in cinemas from October 11.

On October 25, Constantin will release German star Michael "Bully" Herbig’s debut CG comedy Lissi und der wilde Kaiser. On December 6 , viewers will know "why men don’t know how to listen and women don’t know how to park" with the release of Leander Haußmann’s Warum Männer nicht zuhören und Frauen schlecht einparken können, in which Fürmann stars alongside Jessica Schwarz.

The leading Munich outfit expects to register annual sales of at least €250m and a minimum operating profit of €12m.
