29/08/2007 - Filmtræff Svenborg, the biggest cinema exhibitors’ fair in Denmark, is this week welcoming some 400 cinema representatives, invited by local distributors to view 40-50 of the latest films soon to be released in Denmark.
During the five-day event, co-organised by Danish distributors’ association FAFID and the producers association Producent Foreningen, as many as four films are shown each day in four screening rooms in the seaside town of Svenborg.
Ten new Danish films are being presented by their director or producer, including Thomas Vinterberg’s A Man Comes Home [trailer], scheduled for a Danish release on September 14 through Filmfolket, Paprika Steen’s With Your Permission [trailer] (Nordisk Film, September 28) and Anders Morgenthaler’s Ekko [trailer] (Nordisk, January 11, 2008).
Ten European films are also screening, including Irina Palm [trailer, film focus] (Sandrew Metronome, November 30) and Hallam Foe [trailer] (Nordisk, Janaury 4, 2008).
Two seminars are keeping exhibitors updated on the latest technology and legal issues. The first panel, organised yesterday by established media agency OMD, dealt with film distribution on the Internet and mobile phones. Tomorrow’s second panel will discuss anti-piracy issues and the new guidelines to fight against recording on mobile phones in cinemas.
Mogens Steen Kruse of Filmtræff Svenborg said that the cinema exhibitors fair will close with the Svend Audience Awards on August 30, rewarding the most popular film released between July 2006 and June 2007.
