Cinéfête warms up for eighth edition

The 8th Cinéfête, an annual festival of French films for young German audiences, opens September 6 in Trier and will travel all over Germany until July 31, 2008.

The previous edition of the unique initiative aimed at school-goers, Cinéfête 7, ended last month on a more than positive note, with 115 cinemas visited in 98 German cities, attracting a record number of young viewers (126,000).

Cinéfête 8 is screening six features and a programme of shorts, subtitled in their original language. The theme of this year’s edition is travel and young German audiences will have the chance to discover Bénédicte Galup and Michel Ocelot’s Kirikou and the Wild Beasts [+see also:

, Safy Nebbou’s The Giraffe’s Neck, Christine Pascal’s Le petit prince a dit, IP 5 - L'île aux pachydermes by Jean-Jacques Beineix, Ismaël Ferroukhi’s Le grand voyage, Laetitia Colombani’s He Loves Me … He Loves Me Not and a series of shorts entitled Pas d'histoires ! 12 regards sur le racisme au quotidien (“No stories! 12 films on Racism”).
