Harry Potter and Taxi 4 are 2007’s top European films

07/01/2008 - Seven European titles feature in the 2007 list of Top 20 Films in Hungarian theatres.
In second position behind Shrek 3 is the UK co-production Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix [trailer] (distributed by Intercom) with 290m forints grossed (€1.13m).
In at number six is French feature Taxi 4 [trailer] by Gérard Krawczyk with 120m forints grossed (distribution SPI).
The Hungarian film S.O.S. Love! [trailer] by Tamas Sas ranks ninth with 112m forints (distribution Best Hollywood) while two other national productions distributed by Budapest Film also make it into the top 20: the animated feature Cat City 2 by Béla Ternovszky (still showing, in 15th position with 96m forints grossed) and The Train Keeps a Rollin’ by Róbert Koltai, which was selected for the forthcoming Hungarian Film Week and is 16th position with 84m forints grossed.
Two other UK co-productions (distributed by UIP) feature in the Top 20: Mr. Bean’s Holiday [trailer] (14) and Matthew Vaughn’s Stardust (18).
In the annual ranking of distributors, Intercom is in pole position with a market share of almost 35%, ahead of UIP (22%), Fórum (14.9%), Budapest Film (10.6%) and SPI (7.4%). These companies are followed by Best Hollywood, Hungaricom, Hungarotop, Paradigma, Mokép, Intersonic and Cirko Film.
