RELEASES Austria

Austrian documentaries steal the show this week

by

Austrian documentaries take pride of place among today’s seven new releases.

Films hitting screens include Hafner’s Paradise by Günter Schwaiger, the Madrid-based director originally from Salzburg. This Austrian/Spanish co-production, screened at the Locarno Film Festival, among others, and lauded at Valladolid, tells the story of a former Nazi who arrives in Francoist Spain. The seemingly harmless old man still fills with pride at the Nazi salute and denies the Holocaust.
