by Mathieu Loewer
24/01/2008 - The 31st Göteborg International Film Festival in Sweden, to be held from January 25-February 4, is screening Lionel Baier’s Swiss film Stealth [trailer] (Saga Production) in the Five Continents section.
Released in France last December, the second feature by the director of Stupid Boy [trailer] was lauded by the French press. Elle magazine commented: “Lionel Baier has pulled off a cinematic feat. Both tender and intelligent, it has the mark of a true auteur film”.
TélécinéObs described the film as “a breathless and funny road-movie with a rare and unaffected appeal”. Paris Match praised “its liberated tone, dazzling intelligence and devastating humour” and Libération couldn’t get enough of it: “Even if you’ve seen it twice already, you’ll want to see it a third time to grasp the film’s mysterious charm”.
The film will be released this year in Italy, the US and German-speaking Switzerland.
Two Swiss documentaries will also screen at Göteborg: Pierre-Yves Borgeaud’s Return to Gorée (CAB Production, DreamPixies) in the Music Non-Stop section and Swiss co-production Dust by German director Hartmut Bitomsky (Dschoint Ventschr Filmproduktion) in the Dokumentärt section.
