Celluloid Dreams showcase Sonetaula and reveal what’s in store

07/02/2008 - Successful deals look set to be struck by French international sales agent Celluloid Dreams at the film market at the 58th Berlinale which opens today.

The company headed by Hengameh Panahi have one title in competition (US film Ballast, lauded at the Sundance festival) and two in the Panorama section: the documentary Patti Smith: Dream of Life and Salvatore Mereu’s Sonetaula [trailer] (see news), co-produced by Italy’s Lucky Red, French company Haut et Court and Belgium’s Artemis.

Market screenings include the eagerly awaited German thriller The Wave [trailer] by Dennis Gansel (see news); and French animated film Fear(s) of the Dark [trailer].

Completed film projects include Michael Haneke’s remake of Funny Games [trailer] and Danish director Thomas Vinterberg’s When a Man Comes Home [trailer] (see news).

Celluloid Dreams also have an impressive selection of European titles in production and post-production, including Le silence de Lorna (“Lorna’s Silence”) by the Dardenne brothers (see news); Michel Houellebecq’s Possibility of an Island [trailer] (see news); Aftermath by German director Caroline Link; Voyage aux Pyrénées (“Journey to the Pyrenees”) by the Larrieu brothers (see news); and Safy Nebbou’s L’empreinte de l’ange (“The Angel’s Footprint”).

Other noteworthy films include UK feature Better Things by Duane Hopkins; Austrian horror film Dead in 3 Days [trailer] by Andreas Prochaska; Jacques-Rémy Girerd’s animated film Mia et le Migou; and Irish director Tom Moore’s Brendan and the Secret of Kells.
