Lumina acquires “Salt” flavour

by

London based Lumina films has changed its name to the Salt Co. The company, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the International Film Collective (IFC), is involved in the financing, production and worldwide sales of theatrical features, series and documentaries.

The company – which is known in the marketplace for specializing in Latin American projects such as Sergio Machado’s Lower City and Fernando Meirelles’ City of God follow-up City of Men – has changed its name to reflect their now more diverse range of titles.

for Warp X and Eddy Moretti and Suroosh Alvi’s documentary Heavy Metal in Baghdad for Vice.

The company also packaged Rebecca Miller’s The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, which features a stellar cast including Robin Wright Penn, Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder, Monica Bellucci, Julianne Moore, Maria Bello and Alan Arkin.

Salt Managing Director Samantha Horley said, “Salt is the essential element you need for anything. It is distinct and emphatic. The repositioning will help us to build on our international credentials as a UK-based sales operation whilst bringing into focus the packaging and financing services that we are able to offer: the extra flavour we can add.”

“We have good relationships with US hedge funds, equity players and investors and we want to offer a place for filmmakers to come for minimum guarantees that are at a realistic level,” she added.

Horley’s business partners Robert Bevan and Cyril Megret will continue as directors in the renamed company.
