Chiesa seals deal with Weinstein Company

Italy’s leading sales company, Adriana Chiesa Enterprises, has signed a major deal with The Weinstein Company for all English-language territories on the animated feature film The Story of Leo, produced by Dujass Film.

The deal was announced at Cannes by Adriana Chiesa, who had ten films screening at the market, including the 3D animated story of lion Leo, directed by Mario Cambi. Orlando, another 3D animated film produced by Dujass Film was pre-sold to some 30 territories, including Eastern Europe, Middle East and Mexico.

by popular writer-director Federico Moccia was sold to over 20 territories, apart from Spain, France and Germany. “Those major European territories are getting more difficult to close because local broadcasters do not buy as many non-national European films,” commented Chiesa.

The veteran sales agent was still very optimistic about Moccia’s possible sale in those territories as his novel will be published this month in France and is among the top ten bestsellers in Spain.

was well received at the market. It will be released in Germany in September (Movienet) and will open the New Italian Cinema event at the Film Society of Lincoln Film Center Festival early June.

by Paolo Virzí sold to Australia, Russia and Latin America. The Monica Bellucci vehicle The Man Who Loves by Mariasole Tognazzi was pre-sold to Russia, Eastern Europe, Portugal, Greece and Brazil.

An active member of the European Film Export Association, Chiesa stressed the major victory for European producers and sales agents who can now use the essential tool of International Arbitration procedure for their activities. “It is a vital tool for any sales company who can now get support on a European level in case of arbitration. This should really help European cinema,” she added.
