19/09/2008 - The Swedish filmmaker Johan Kling (Darling [trailer]) and Norway’s Gunnar Vikene (Trigger [trailer]) were awarded SEK7m and SEK1.1m each as production grant from the Swedish Film Institute for their respective new feature films, Trust Me and Vegas.
Trust Me will reunite Kling with his Darling leads Michelle Meadows and Mikael Segerström, who will be part of an ensemble cast that includes top Swedish actors Gustav and Alexander Skarsgård. The film is set in a small theatre in Stockholm.
“Unlike Darling, Trust Me is a comedy, but it will still have Johan Kling’s slightly cynical but warm tone,” said Mathilde Dedye who produces with Fredrik Heinig for St Paul Film. The film co-produced with Norway’s 4½, will start shooting on October 8 and will be delivered in the autumn of 2009.
Vegas is a youth film by the acclaimed director of Falling Sky. The teenage drama set in an emergency youth shelter is currently shooting in Bergen, Norway. It is produced by Silje Hopland Eik and Tanya Nanette Badendyck (Cinenord Norway) with Maria Ekerhovd from the newly established Bergen-based Kong Film, in co-production with Cinenord Stockholm AB.
