by

Shooting kicks off in Paris today on Emmanuel Mouret’s fifth feature, Fais-moi plaisir (“Give Me Pleasure”), in which the director continues his exploration of burlesque and sentimental themes.

As usual, the cast includes the director (who will appear on screens as of Wednesday in Claire Simon’s God’s Offices [+see also:

Penned by the director, the film is – according to its producer Frédéric Niedermayer – reminiscent in tone of Blake Edwards’ The Party and Jerry Lewis films. While plot details are being kept under wraps, Fais-moi plaisir is set to look at sexual frustration within couple Jean-Jacques (Mouret) and Ariane (Bel). They encounter the characters played by François and Godrèche.

Produced by Moby Dick Films who have worked with the director since his second feature (Venus and Fleur - 2004 Cannes Directors’ Fortnight), Fais-moi plaisir has received backing from Canal + and Ciné Cinéma. Shooting will take place over seven weeks in Paris.

Domestic distribution and international sales are still under negotiation. The film is set to be completed next spring and released in theatres in the second half of 2009.

Moby Dick Films are also handling production for Godrèche’s debut directorial feature, Toutes les filles pleurent (“All Girls Cry”), which is currently shooting and stars the filmmaker, Maurice Barthélemy and Éric Elmosnino. Co-written by Godrèche and seasoned screenwriter Jacques Fieschi, the film centres on a singer whose career is starting to take off. She has a love affair with her pianist, who already has a partner.
