Ten new Shooting Stars head to Berlin

09/12/2008 - The European Film Promotion has announced the names of the ten emerging actors who will take part in the Shooting Stars 2009 event at the upcoming Berlin Film Festival (February 5-15, 2009).
The future ambassadors of European cinema are Cyron Melville (Fighter [trailer], Denmark), Samuli Vauramo (Beauty and the Bastard) [trailer], Finland), Hafsia Herzi (The Secret of the Grain [trailer], France), David Kross (The Reader, Germany), Orsi Tóth (Delta [trailer, film focus], Hungary), Sarah Bolger (Stormbreaker [trailer], Ireland), Alba Caterina Rohrwacher (Giovanna's Father, Italy), Verónica Echegui (I am Juani [trailer], Spain), Celine Bolomey (Du bruit dans la tête [trailer], Switzerland) and Carey Mulligan (And When Did You Last See Your Father? [trailer], United Kingdom).
The ten talented actors were chosen by a jury comprising Belgian filmmaker Marion Hänsel, Spanish producer Antonio Saura, British film historian Peter Cowie, Portuguese casting director Patricia Vasconcelos and Macedonian actress Labina Mitevska.
In 2009 the 12th edition of the Shooting Stars event will take place from Saturday 7 to Monday 9 February at the Berlinale, where the ten chosen actors will be presented to leading filmmakers and industry personnel as well as attend high profile events at the Festival. During their time at the Festival they will be invited to attend master-classes and workshops to bring them into contact with industry professionals and decision makers.
