Advances on receipts for Garrel, Ramos and Civeyrac
Five feature film screenplays were selected at the last 2008 session of the second pre-production advance on receipts committee of the National Film Centre (CNC).
The chosen projects include J'ai gardé les anges (“I’ve Kept the Angels”) by veteran and purist director Philippe Garrel. The title will be produced by Édouard Weil for Rectangle Productions, who also handled production on Garrel’s Frontier of Dawn [+see also:

An advance on receipts was also granted to Jeanne captive, a project piloted by Michel Zana for Sophie Dulac Productions. This is Philippe Ramos’s third feature after Farewell Homeland (2003) and Capitaine Ahab [+see also:

The second advance on receipts committee also selected Jean-Paul Civeyrac’s Des filles en noir (“Girls in Black”), which will be produced – like the director’s five previous films – by Philippe Martin for Les Films Pelléas. Having first come to attention with Neither Eve Nor Adam (presented at the 1996 Venice Film Festival), Civeyrac went on to direct Les Solitaires (2000), Spirits (selected at the Berlin Forum in 2002), All the Fine Promises (2003 - Jean Vigo Award) and Through the Forest [+see also:

A major name in international film stands out on the list of chosen projects: Iran’s Abbas Kiarostami, whose movie The Certified Copy will also receive an advance on receipts. Produced by MK2, the film by the 1997 Cannes Palme d'Or-winner is set to start shooting in May 2009 (with co-production backing from Italy’s Bi Bi Film).
Starring Juliette Binoche, the film traces the encounter in Tuscany of a French gallery owner and an English-speaking writer studying the relationship between originals and copies in art.
Finally, an advance on receipts will go to the documentary project No Comment (Zeta Productions) by experienced director Pierre-Henry Salfati, who has made several narrative films and around 20 documentaries, including The Jazzman from the Gulag (1999) and La neuvième (2005).
