Fish Tank et Moon favoris pour les BIFA

27/10/2009 - Avec huit nominations, Fish Tank d'Andrea Arnold est le grand favori des 12èmes Prix du cinéma britannique indépendant (BIFA en anglais), suivi par Moon de Duncan Jones (sept nominations). An Education de Lone Scherfig, In the Loop d'Armando Ianucci et Nowhere Boy de Sam Taylor-Wood ont tous trois été nominés dans six catégories.

Daniel Day Lewis recevra le Prix Richard Harris pour sa contribution remarquable au cinéma britannique. Parmi les maisons de production représentées, BBC Films mène la marche, avec le record sans précédent de 26 nominations. Christine Langan, directrice créative pour BBC Films, a déclaré que la société est "enchantée de la moisson généreuse de nominations obtenues cette année et félicite tous nos partenaires, car cela témoigne de leur talent, de leur originalité et de leur engagement".

Johanna von Fischer et Tessa Collinson, directrice des BIFA, ont dévoilé qu'"un nombre record de films nous ont été soumis cette année – le comité de pré-sélection a visionné plus de 200 films. Un des aspects les plus réjouissants de ces nominations est la qualité des candidats dans la catégorie premier film".

Le jury se compose cette année de l'actrice Jodie Whittaker, des acteurs Idris Elba, Liam Cunningham, Eddie Marsan et Peter Mullan, des réalisateurs Sarah Gavron et Eran Creevy, des producteurs Dixie Linder, Anita Overland et Adrian Sturges, de la documentariste Kate Blewett, du consultant en marketing Robert Mitchell, du projectionniste Paul Speed et de Peter Buckingham, directeur de la distribution et de l'exploitation au UK Film Council,.

La cérémonie des BIFA se tiendra le dimanche 6 décembre.
