The biggest Nordic industry event at the Göteborg Film Festival (26 January-5 February) will once again offer a detailed overview of the region's current production, distribution, exhibition and TV situation. Split into several segments, the Nordic Film Market will present 22 newly completed films, including most of the movies screening in the festival's Nordic competition, plus three Highlighted Docs in Competition, 17 Works in Progress and nine projects in development in the Discovery section.

The Nordisk Film & TV Fund Prize for outstanding writing of a Nordic drama series, funded by the Nordisk Film & TV Fond, will be handed out for the second time at Göteborg. One drama series each from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden have been nominated for the award, which goes to the main writer(s) of the series. The nominees are Stella Blomkvist by writer Jóhann Ævar Grímsson from Iceland, The Lawyer by Karin Gidfors and Charlotte Lesche from Sweden, Deadwind by Rike Jokela, Kirsi Porkka and Jari Olavi Rantala from Finland, Ride Upon the Storm by Adam Price from Denmark, and Borderliner by Megan Gallagher, Alexander Opsal and Bjørn Ekeberg from Norway.

The TV Drama Vision section will showcase works in progress and development, which include six TV series. The full list can be found here. In addition, through a number of talks, panels and presentations, the section will delve into strategic questions, such as, “Have we reached peak TV, or will new money keep flowing?”, “Creators are getting more power and there are amazing opportunities for doers; who will be the winners and who will become superfluous in this uncharted territory?” and “The Nordics are famous for being early adopters, but is this interest in original local content lasting?”

These issues will be addressed by keynote speakers such as Armando Iannucci (Veep) and Ran Tellem (Homeland), while the creators of Bron (head writer Hans Rosenfeldt, actress Sofia Helin and producer Anders Landström) will reflect on their experiences with the seminal Nordic show and what it meant for the genre worldwide.
