Eurimages prepares second Co-production Development Award

by Cineuropa

12/10/2010 - The Council of Europe’s Eurimages Fund is joining forces with New Cinema Network, the co-production market in Rome to award the second Eurimages Co-production Development Award.

The award, a cash prize of €30,000, has been created to encourage European co-production from the initial stages of a project.

To be eligible, projects must participate in the New Cinema Network and be designed from the outset as a European co-production intended for theatrical release between at least two member states of the Eurimages Fund for reasons other than purely financial.

The Eurimages Co-Production Development Award will be given on the basis of the project’s artistic quality and its prospects of remaining a European co-production. The prize, which takes the form of a non-reimbursable subsidy, will be used by the beneficiary exclusively for the purposes of meeting the project’s development expenses.

The first Eurimages Co-Production Development Award was given to Bogdan Mustata’s Wolf (produced by Romania’s Strada Films) as part of the CineLink event held during the Sarajevo Film Festival last July.
