Haneke and Lafosse spearhead Films du Losange’s line-up

15/05/2012 - With two titles in the official selection of the 65th Cannes Film Festival which opens tomorrow, French international sales agency Les Films du Losange will once again be a main player at the festival’s Film Market.

Agathe Valentin’s team will naturally be able to count on international sales for the jewel in its crown, Love [trailer, film focus] by Austrian filmmaker Michael Haneke, to feature performances by Emmanuelle Riva, Jean-Louis Trintignant (photo), and Isabelle Huppert (news), who will be back in Cannes after her 2009 Palme d’Or for The White Ribbon [trailer, film focus]. But there should also be good business for Our Children [trailer, film focus] by Belgian filmmaker b>Joachim Lafosse, a film that will be unveiled at the Certain Regard with Emilie Dequenne, Tahar Rahim, and Niels Arestrup in the cast.

Les Films du Losange will also start on pre-sales for 1001 Grams by Norwegian director Bent Hamer, a regular visitor to Cannes where he presented Kitchen Stories and Factotum [trailer] at the Directors’ Fortnight in 2003 and 2005, as well as O’Horten [trailer] at the Certain Regard in 2008. Currently in pre-production, his new project co-produced by BulBul Film (Norway), Pandora Film (Germany) and Slot Machine (France) will be about a Norwegian female scientist in Paris for a seminar.

In the line-up, there are also three very interesting sounding titles in post-production: Michael Kohlhaas by Arnaud des Pallières with the Danish star Mads Mikkelsen in the lead role (read more), Goodbye Morocco by Nadir Moknèche (read more), and the documentary La maison de la Radio by Nicolas Philibert (To Be and to Have).
