Lusophone University of Humanities and Technology is the largest private university in Portugal and is part of the subsystem of private and cooperative Portuguese higher education.
Through its teaching and research, Lusophone University of Humanities and Technology has as its core mission the scientific, cultural, economic and social development of Portugal and all countries where Portuguese is spoken.

Programme objective and content:
BA in Digital Animation:
This course provides basic training and interdisciplinary basic and applied theoretical knowledge in the areas of Communication, Arts and Design and Multimedia Computing and Communication. This course thus seeks to meet the basic training needs of future professionals in order to correct the areas of professional development and production for animation, digital design, 3D visualization, film, video and multimedia communication. The course consists of 6 semesters. Students attend courses ranging from Model Drawing to Digital Illustration, from Two-Dimensional Animation Technologies to Editing and Post-Production for Video, while in the last two semesters they attend a project seminar and two workshops on directing animation.
BA in Film, Video and Multimedia Communication:
The overall objective of a degree in Film, Video and Multimedia Communication is to promote training that combines rigorous theoretical training with an interdisciplinary approach applied to their specialist fields. Throughout their course the students are constantly encouraged to practice technological and artistic experimentation, with the ultimate goal of training individuals who are technologically competent, as well as artistically and conceptually creative.
This degree also aims to train professionals in the areas of production and filmmaking, television production and multimedia, to a conceptual level, and a more experimental level, as well as the acquisition of generic elementary skills and basic areas of communication in sciences, arts and design and information systems, computing and multimedia communication.
Master’s Film Studies:
The MA in Film Studies is part of the School of Communication Sciences, Arts and Information Technology in the fields of Film Studies, configuring it as 2nd cycle integrated in the follow-up for students qualified with a degree in Cinema, Video and Multimedia Communication, or another equivalent degree. In addition, the course is intended for all professionals wishing to develop their skills in the areas of production and filmmaking.
This Master’s course is oriented towards the actual producing and directing of film projects within an environment of critical and theoretical reflection. The entire course is thus based on a project methodology that is developed throughout the course, where students are invited to:
- Develop an individual writing project and prepare a feature film respecting all norms and principles that enable them to prepare a project that could be submitted for evaluation with the ICA - Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Media programme or the European Union;
- Direct a short film;
- Direct a documentary;
- Direct a project with greater experimental / artistic potential with the use of new digital technologies.
Entry requirements:
Digital Animation:
Applicants need to pass an entrance exam in one of the following disciplines: History, Mathematics Applied to Social Sciences, Portuguese.
Film, Video and Multimedia Communication:
Applicants need to pass an entrance exam in one of the following disciplines: Drawing, Geography, Descriptive Geometry, History, Mathematics Applied to Social Sciences, Portuguese.
