Ana Geislerová was discovered by film director and producer, Ondrej Trojan, when she was only 13 years old. This collaboration marked the beginning of her successful career. With her role in Želary [+see also:

film profile], nominated for an Academy Award as Best Foreign Language Film in 2004, she won a Czech Lion as "Best Actress" that same year.
In the interview the actress comments on the fact that although different countries are part of the European Union, cinemas offer a huge choice of American movies next to a limited selection of European films. Among this selection Russian, Polish or Hungarian movies are not common to be screened, and she believes that the only occasion to discover and follow these productions is usually during festivals.
