Belgium went for Matthias Schoenaerts, the young star of Anyway the Wind Blows by Tom Barman. Schoenaerts is well-known in Benelux and has starred in numerous Flemish-language films as well as in Jan Verheyde’s 2001 Alias and Dorothée van den Berghe’s Filles (2002).

by Tom Barman, the lead singer from dEUS (a Belgian rock group). He made his first feature film.
I think it is going to be a real milestone in Belgian movie production, because Tom Barman is someone who is completely free and unconnected to anything that has to do with the established film world. So he has his own ideas and he is ready to take risks. I think we all miss people who love to take risks and he is one of those and so I was very glad to work with him.
I don't know too much about the American film market but I have the feeling that American movies are much more commercial it does not mean that this is always bad, but I personally prefer more the sincere way of European film making.
'Belgian saying' - it means: 'Nothing is true, not even that'".
