When 'el Nudos', an old sailor from Barcelona discovers that he is terminally ill, he takes out an insurance policy for his wife and sets up his own suicide to make it look like an accident. Young lawyer Silvia is brought in to investigate irregularities and must chose between the interests of the multinational company she works for and the moral beliefs of el Nudos' family.
