In 1941 in Marseille, young Levilé still hopes, despite the war, to get his mother and sisters to come from Poland and organise their departure for Argentina. Suffering from pangs of guilt, he lets the ghosts of his guilty conscience interfere with real life. Rosa, a singer who is in love with him, tries hard to save Levilé from the threats of the Vichy police and the deadly illusions that haunt him.
