NO ET MOI

by Zabou Breitman

synopsis

A school research project brings brainy Lou, aged thirteen, into contact with the plight of the homeless. On the way home one day, she crosses paths with Nora, an eighteen-year-old girl who lives off handouts and looks for cigarettes in the trash at the Austerlitz Station, along with two other kids and a dog. And since the rest of the world holds No at arm’s length, she overcomes her distrust and hostility and accepts the invitation to go live with what will become her new family. A disinterested gesture of trust, made unreservedly, that will turn the two girls into friends and more than friends: sisters.
