Ernesto is an ex-communist and profoundly atheist who finds himself drawn into the beatification of his mother that has been requested by his brothers. As if this were not sufficient, his son wants to go to religious education classes at school because he wants to fit in with his peers. The only ray of hope for Ernesto comes in the form of Diana with whom he promptly falls in love with.
