ABENDLAND
synopsis
A journey through contemporary Europe at night. People party, people are born, they work, love, and die. In deliberate slowness, Nikolaus Geyrhalter unfolds a visually stunning documentation of European reality. The bizarre and cruel, beautiful and peculiar can be seen here. A closer look, of course, reveals many flaws: wealth and democracy – the principles of the “Western World” – are what determine exclusion and exclusivity.
