SPRINGTIME IN A SMALL TOWN
synopsis
China in the spring of 1946. Dai Liyan and his wife, Yuwen, return to their bombed out village of Suzhou. There is no passion in their marriage anymore and the situation only worsens when Dai Liyan is diagnosed with tuberculosis. Their lives are turned upside down when Zhang Zhichen, an old friend of theirs and now a renowned doctor, arrives to visit his sick friend and finds that Liyan's sickness is of psychosomatic origin.
