BIAGIO

by Pasquale Scimeca

synopsis

The history of Biagio Conte, born in Palermo in 1963 into a wealthy family. When Biagio was twenty, Palermo was a city of hell. The blood flowed in the streets. The injustices that he could see every day, the existential void, the absence of morality, the lack of any relationship with nature, deeply depress Biagio. He leaves the city, gives away everything he owns, and with only the clothes he wears, escapes into nature. For more than a year he wanders in the woods and the mountains of Sicily living as a hermit. Then, one day, he meets a shepherd, who hires him to graze his sheep and give him the book by Hermann Hesse on the life of St. Francis. To Biagio, it is an illumination .
