SON OF MINE
synopsis
This powerful, painful father-son drama of Remy Van Heugten takes place in the peripheral Dutch province of Limburg, that was left to its fate after the closure of the mines and would quickly impoverish. It’s the backdrop against which we follow the tormented Lei and his son Jeffrey in their criminal activities and their troubled, suffocating relationship that comes to a fatal end. A psychologically tense, rough realistic film with a solid script, clever camera work and robust performances that convincingly reflect the powerlessness of the characters
