A TO B ROLLERSKI
by Arnis Aspers
synopsis
In 1979 Latvian biathlete Raimonds Dombrovski was forced to emigrate to the United States. From then on his dream was to compete one day in the Winter Olympics under the flag of independent Latvia. When this was still impossible at the 1988 Olympics, the biathlete embarked on a 90-day rollerski trip from Inuvik, located north of the Arctic Circle in Canada, to Mexico. It was his way of protesting against the Soviet Union regime. He told the people he met along the way about Latvia and how it craved freedom. After 26 years Dombrovski is back to relive the trip. He visits the same people. They talk about what has changed over the years.
