BETWEEN TWO COUNTRIES
by Erja Dammert
synopsis
During the Winter War and the Continuation War almost 80,000 children were sent away from Finland to safe countries. Most of the children were taken to Sweden, but Denmark and Norway also accepted a few thousand refugees. Some of them stayed in their foster families for only a few months, some for many years. Many of the children travelled several times between the countries, and to some the foster family became a permanent home abroad.
