LA REPUBBLICA DI SAN GENNARO

by Massimo Costa

synopsis

Set sometime in the future, Italy has undergone a secession. All the southern immigrants in the North have been placed in reservations situated throughout Padania. We meet the Strummolo family who lives in one such reserve. Gennaro is the head of the family and his greatest ambition is to become a "northerner". To that end, he subjects himself and his reluctant sister to a long series of tests and examinations set by the Padania local government. A social worker whose job it is to oversee the process of "civilisation" of the Strummolo family falls madly in love with Gennaro, despite the racial differences between them. With interesting results.
