LOU'S LAUNDRETTE

by Katalin Gödrös

synopsis

Gödrös' drama about a single mother struggling to fulfil her dreams is packed with wit and charm. Lou is 34, has two kids from different fathers and absolutely no money on her account. She isn’t exactly in the winning stakes, especially when she loses her job and cannot make ends meet. Lou is too proud to get social security, so when she sees a launderette and apartment for rent it seems the answer to her prayers and an opportunity to run her own business. She just needs to get the down payment together. Lou’s gay friend Manfred doesn’t think it will be a problem but then he leaves her in the lurch, and Lou is forced to summon up all her courage to approach Zurich’s banks...
