DAYS IN THE COUNTRY

by Raoul Ruiz

synopsis

Two old men talk and drink in a bar in Santiago, Chile. They seem to be writing a book. Theirs is a strange discussion, they talk about themselves as if they were dead. The presumed writer, Don Federico, gathers matches in his wine glass. An odd atmosphere is created. Where are we? In the realm of the dead? Not exactly. Rather, in a previous life, in a memory. In fact, Don Federico starts to recall his youth, when he lived down there, in the country…
