Denis Villeneuve debuted with Un 32 août sur terre (1998), screened in the Official Selection at Cannes. Maelström (2000) won the FIPRESCI prize at the Berlinale 2001. Polytechnique (2009) premiered in the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes and won the Toronto Film Critics Association award for Best Canadian Film. Incendies(2010) was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film Academy Award in 2011. He returned to the Oscars with Prisoners (2013), nominated for Best Photography. His penultimate film, Enemy (2013), premiered in the Official Selection at San Sebastian.
