Pen-ek Ratanaruang

Pen-ek Ratanaruang was born in Bangkok, Thailand in 1962. He studied art history at Pratt Institute in New York, subsequently working as an illustrator. He returned to Thailand where he garnered numerous international awards as a commercials director. His debut film, FUN BAR KARAOKE, was shown in the International Forum of New Cinema section of the 1997 Berlinale. In 2005 his work, KHAMPIPAKSA CHAK MAHASAMUT, took part in the Competition at the Berlinale. His film FON TOK KUEN FAH (HEADSHOT) was screened at the 2012 Panorama section of the Berlinale.
