. It was a debut case all over: debut for the director, debut for the producer and also debut for the lead actress… On top of this, to make things “easier”, it was a co-production with two European countries, but we received funding from Creative Europe and Eurimages. What are the challenges and merits of producing in Lithuania?
Lithuania is a small market so there are limits in regards to the amount of work and scale of the work that can be produced. Speaking of merits - hard working, ambitious and motivating colleagues and professionals working in the field, tax incentive creating new possibilities, audiences that are particularly fond of Lithuanian films and also a deep well of amazing untold stories waiting to be made into films.

What are your expectations in Cannes as one of the "Producers on the Move"?
To get inspired, find projects to co-produce and create lasting friendships with fellow producers.

What are your next projects?
We are acting as a minority co-producer for a feature film, Juris Kursietis' second effort Oleg, produced by fellow 2018 Producer on the Move Aija Berzina to be released next year. We are about to start the production of Virginija Vareikyte and Maximilien Dejoi's feature length documentary I’ll Stand by You, a story of two brave women trying to stop an epidemic of suicides in a small Lithuanian town. We are currently taking part at Ekran+ with a feature film, 9th Step, a story of a man doing a nine-step programme to recover from his alcohol addiction. There are more projects in our slate among which a feature culinary comedy, an adaptation of best selling novel in Lithuanian and also a new feature, Funny and Sad Life of George by the director of Miracle, Egle Vertelyte.
