Kon Tiki on the big screen
- Phillip Noyce will direct a British production about Heyerdahl's historic crossing of the Atlantic in a kayak
British film producer Jeremy Thomas has sourced 420million Norwegian Kroner to produce a film about the crossing that Norwegian anthropologist Thor Heyerdahl’s made by kayak (named Kon Tiki) from Peru to the Canaries to disprove the widely held belief that Columbus was the first man to navigate the Atlantic. This project has been in preparation for many years and is to be directed by Australia’s Phillip Noyce (Rabbit Proof Fence) with British actor Ralph Fiennes scheduled to star as Heyerdahl, who died earlier this year at the age of 88.
