26/08/2002 - Lukas Moodysson’s eagerly awaited third feature Lilja 4-ever stars a new fifteen year old Russian actress

Following the pan-European success encountered by his first two features, Fucking Amal and Together, Swedish film director Lukas Moodysson is back with Lilja 4-ever. This film will contribute to Moodysson’s growing reputation as one of Europe’s best young filmmakers and it stars a fifteen-year-old phenomenon from St Petersburg called Oksana Akinshina. Despite her tender years, Akinshina is a successful model with a starring role in a major European film under her belt, Sergei Bodrov’s Sisters (2001). Akinshina’s angelic features caused Moodysson cast her as Lilja, a lonely girl who lives in a remote Soviet village and has one friend in the world, a boy called Volodja, with whom she shares a dream of a better life. One day Lilja meets and falls in love with Andrei who invites her to come and live with him in Sweden.
