Rien de personnel and Adieu Gary to screen on Croisette

As a foretaste of the selection for the 48th International Critics’ Week (SIC) – to be held from May 14-22 as part of the 62nd Cannes Film Festival – it has been revealed that two French debut features will screen on the Croisette this year.

(“Nothing Personal”, see news) will open Critics’ Week 2009. Produced by Antoine Rein (Producer on the Move 2006) and Fabrice Goldstein for Karé Productions, the film stars Jean-Pierre Darroussin, Denis Podalydès, Zabou Breitman, Pascal Gréggory, Mélanie Doutey and Bouli Lanners.

Pre-bought by Canal + and Ciné Cinéma and backed by the Centre region, Rien de Personnel will be released domestically by Rezo. International sales are being handled by MK2.

In competition, Critics’ Week has selected Nassim Amaouche’s Adieu Gary [+see also:

(“Farewell Gary”, see news 2008), starring Jean-Pierre Bacri, Dominique Reymond, Yasmine Belmadi, Sabrina Ouazani and Mahmed Arezki.

Produced by Les Films A4, the €3.1m feature received co-production support from StudioCanal and Rhône-Alpes Cinéma, as well as pre-sales from Canal + and Ciné Cinéma. StudioCanal will release the title domestically on July 22 and manage international sales.

The full Critics’ Week 2009 selection will be unveiled on Friday, April 24, with online commentary from delegate general Jean-Christophe Berjon.
