According to Etienne Ollagnier – who heads Jour2fête with Sarah Chazelle – this double release (on three and ten screens) has been programmed because "the two films complement each other well. This creates a rather different form of distribution with greater press interest: we’ve had lots of requests for interviews with Petzold. These are limited but rather attractive releases. We’re going to continue to try to support young German filmmakers in the future, but we’re opening up to other film industries too."

On June 17, Jour2fête is thus releasing Peruvian director Claudia Llosa’s majority Spanish production The Milk of Sorrow [+see also:

, which won the Golden Bear at this year’s Berlinale (see review).

Ollagnier commented: "We were lucky that we made an offer to The Match Factory before the prize was announced and this undoubtedly worked in our favour. The film has already been well received in France with lots of requests from exhibitors, backing from the AFCAE (French Association of Arthouse Cinemas) and a positive initial press response".

In two years, Jour2fête has released five German films by Detlev Buck, Sven Taddicken, Matthias Glasner, Dani Levy and Doris Dörrie. This year, the company also launched Frédéric Choffat’s Swiss feature Real Life Is Elsewhere and UK director Terence Davies’ documentary Of Time and the City [+see also:
