Who's Afraid of the Wolf named Best Feature in Plzen
Who's Afraid of the Wolf was named Best Feature at the 22nd Finale festival of Czech film in Plzen, Czech Republic.
An international jury led by Czech scriptwriter Milena Jelinek awarded the Golden Kingfisher to Maria Prochazkova's film, calling it “an innovative and commanding examination of a child’s inner world caught in the typical problems of contemporary times.”
Who's Afraid of the Wolf screened in the Generation Kplus at this year's Berlinale. It is produced by Bionaut Films and Czech Television. Film Europe is handling international sales.
The feature competition jury also presented a Special Award to Zdenek Tyc’s El Paso. Guard No. 47 [+see also:

film profile] won the Pilsner Urquell Audience Award for Best Film and earned Karel Roden the Best Performance Award.
RAPublic won the Golden Kingfisher for Best Documentary. British film historian Peter Hames received the festival's Award for Significant Promotion of Czech Cinema Abroad.
Industry professionals attending the festival caught a glimpse of the future a the Czech Film Center's annual Panel of Upcoming Film Projects. Among the presentations were new projects from Juraj Herz, Agnieszka Holland, Alice Nellis and Petr Zelenka.
Of the 20 films in development, production or post-production, eight involve European partners. Boosts in state funding for film production in recent years have made it possible for Czech producers to participate as more equal partners in international co-productions.
The seven-day Finale festival presented 198 films and issued 12,312 tickets, including accreditations.
