Scott Thomas gets kidnapped in Contre toi
Having first come to attention with her debut feature, Just About Love? [+see also:
film profile] (presented in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes 2007), Lola Doillon today starts shooting her second film: Contre toi.
This kidnap-themed drama features UK actress Kristin Scott Thomas (on screens as of August 12 in Catherine Corsini’s Leaving [+see also:
film profile]) and rising star Pio Marmaï (to be seen as of October 14 in La Loi de Murphy - formerly known as Diamants Sur Ordonnance - see news). Swiss actor Jean-Philippe Ecoffey will also appear in a supporting role.
Contre toi centres on the abduction of a renowned surgeon by a man who holds her responsible for his wife’s death. A psychological battle begins between the kidnapper and his victim, but during the captivity, their relationship gradually develops into mutual affection (aided by the Stockholm syndrome). What will remain of this "love" once the woman is freed?
Produced by Saga Blanchard for Origami Films (for whom this is their first feature), Contre toi has co-production support from Ce Qui Me Meut Motion Picture, pre-sales from Canal + and Ciné Cinéma and backing from the Poitou-Charentes region.
