Riemann and Dittrich split themselves in five for UFA’s Pigeons

by

Shooting started in Cologne on August 18 on the comedy Pigeons on the Roof, written (in collaboration with Markus Hoffmann) and directed by Otto Alexander Jahrreiss, who is back behind the camera ten years after Zoom - It's Always About Getting Closer (winner of three awards at the Ourense Film Festival in Spain).

The film is one of the first projects (announced by Cineuropa this summer, see news) by new production company UFA Cinema (see interview). Made in collaboration with associate producer Nina Maag (The Wave [+see also:

) and co-produced by ARD Degeto, the film received backing from the North Rhine-Westphalia regional fund and DFFF federal fund.

Pigeons on the Roof represents a challenge for its two lead actors, Katja Riemann (star of Margarethe von Trotta’s I Am the Other Woman [+see also:

) and Olli Dittrich (to be seen from January 2010 in Detlev Buck’s new film Same Same But Different [+see also:

). They play five different characters each in a story of urban couples, with their joys and pain, united by the irresistible force of love.

Like all of UFA Cinema’s productions, Pigeons on the Roof will be released in German-speaking territories by Universal Pictures International Germany.
