Berlinale’s WCF celebrates fifth anniversary
The Berlinale’s World Cinema Fund (WCF), created in October 2004 by the German Cultural Foundation and the Berlinale, in collaboration with the Goethe Institute, is celebrating five years of work crowned with success.
The WCF has so far supported 63 titles from emerging regions across the world. As Berlinale director Dieter Kosslick pointed out: "The more local, the more international: the WCF believes that films that show one’s own cultural identity, in all its fluctuations, can move and infect international audiences as well".
From November 4-7, Berlin viewers will have the chance to (re)discover a selection of works backed by the WCF.
