Three finalist films to screen in EU Parliament

The screening of the three films contending for this year's LUX Prize - Eastern Plays (Bulgaria/Sweden), Storm (Germany/Denmark/The Netherlands) and Welcome (France) – started last Tuesday at the headquarters of the European Parliament in Brussels. MEPs are now invited to watch the films and vote for them. The winner will be revealed on 25 November in Strasbourg. The winner will be subtitled in the EU 23 official languages.

To highlight the beginning of the screenings, on November 10 the European Parliament will organise a series of meetings and press conferences; exchanges of views on the LUX Prize between the Culture & Education Committee and the protagonists of the selected films; as well as the release of the DVD of The Edge of Heaven [+see also:

by German director Fatih Akin, subtitled in 30 languages; and the LUX on air TV debate broadcast by France 24.

Guests include 2007 winner Akin, actress Hanna Schygulla, Eastern Plays director Kamen Kalev, Storm director Hans-Christian Schmid and producer of Welcome, Christophe Rossignon.
