Kari’s Good Heart woos US buyer

Dagur Kári’s English-language debut The Good Heart [+see also:

has been acquired for US distribution by Magnolia Pictures.

The specialised US distributor said they would launch the film first on VoD and later in the cinemas. The Good Heart stars Brian Cox as a misanthropic bar tender who takes under his wing the young Lucas (Paul Dano), whom he believes should take over his business. Lucas then falls for a stewardess who walks into the bar (Isild Le Besco).

The film had its world premiere at the last Toronto International Film Festival. It was produced by Zik Zak Filmworks in Iceland, in co-production with Ex Nihilo (France), Nimbus Film (Denmark) and Forensic Films (US), with support from the Danish Film Institute, the Icelandic Film Centre, Eurimages and Nordisk Film & TV Fond. World rights are handled by Wild Bunch.
